President of U.S./Middle East Project Dr. Daniel Levy visited Peking University

 

In the morning of April 11, 2019, Dr. Daniel Levy, President of U.S./Middle East Project (USMEP) paid a visit to Peking University. He held a meeting with Prof. FU Zhiming, Deputy Dean, School of Foreign Languages, and had a discussion with the teachers and students from Department of Arabic Language and Culture, SFL-PKU about Middle East issues. Dr. WU Bingbing, Deputy Director of Department of Arabic Language and Culture, SFL-PKU, Chair Professor of the State of Qatar Chair in Middle Eastern Studies at PKU (QCMES-PKU) attended the meeting.

 

 

Dr. Levy is a well-known expert on Middle East issues. He twice served as a member of the official Israeli negotiating team in peace talks with the Palestinians between 1991-2006, and held many other important positions such as Middle East and North Africa Director at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) between 2012-2016, Director of the Middle East Task Force at The New America Foundation in Washington D.C. between 2006–2011, Senior Advisor both in the Israeli Prime Minister's office and to Justice Minister Yossi Beilin, before he worked as the President of USMEP since 2017.

 

Dr. Levy is visiting China between April 9-12, at the invitation of QCMES-PKU. During his visit, he held discussions with the Chinese side about strengthen the academic exchanges between the two institutions, and exchanged ideas on the situation in the Middle East.
