On August 19, 2019, Peking University “Into Middle East” delegation led by Dr. Fu Zhiming (Deputy Dean, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University; The Sultan Qaboos Chair Professor in Arabic Studies; Director of Middle East Studies Center) and Dr. Wu Bingbing (Deputy Director of Department of Arabic Language and Culture, SFL-PKU, Chair Professor of the State of Qatar Chair in Middle Eastern Studies at Peking University) visited the Chinese Embassy in Russia. First secretary Mei Hancheng and first secretary Liu Shanshan welcomed the delegates and held a friendly conversation with them.

During the meeting, Mr. Mei introduced the function of the Department of Education Affairs and the current situation of the cultural and educational exchange between China and Russia. Together they thoroughly discussed the perspectives of the development of area studies in China and ways to promote the cultural and educational exchange between China and Russia in the changing international situation.
