On August 20, 2019, the "Into Middle East" (IME) delegation from Peking University, led by Prof. Fu Zhiming (Deputy Dean, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University; The Sultan Qaboos Chair Professor in Arabic Studies; Director of Middle East Studies Center) and Dr. Wu Bingbing(Vice Dean, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University, Deputy Director School of Foreign Languages, Peking University；State of Qatar Chair Professor in Middle Eastern Studies at Peking University) visited Savings Bank of the Russian Federation (Sberbank). A panel discussion was held with attendance of Mr.Xu Jianfeng, Director of Investment Department and Analyst Mr.Andrey Kozlov.

Sberbank is Russia's largest commercial bank and is of great significance to understand Russia's financial system. Mr. Andrey and Mr. Xu introduced the history of Sberbank, the prospects for future development and the status quo of the Russian banking industry under Western sanctions. The students actively asked questions concerning Sberbank's business ecosystem, financing segment and its plan for overseas expansion.
