Seminar on China-Gulf Strategic Cooperation Held in Peking University

On Nov.4, 2019, The Seminar on China-Gulf Strategic Cooperation, organized by Department of Arabic Language and Culture and State of Qatar Chair in Middle Eastern Studies at Peking University(QCMES-PKU), was held successfully at Ho Ying Chie Overseas Exchange Center in Peking University.
Amb. Nabil Fahmy, Former Foreign Minister of Egypt, Dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, The American University in Cairo, Amb.Patrick Theros, Former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, Strategic Advisor of Gulf International Forum, and other 13 foreign scholars from Qatar, Oman, Iran, Egypt, the United States and Japan attended the Seminar.
On the Chinese side, Amb. Wu Sike, Former China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issues, Former Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Amb. Hua Liming, Former Chinese Ambassador to Iran, UAE and Netherlands, and experts and scholar from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, World Affairs Press, International Department of CPC, as well as representatives from CNPC Economics & Technology Research Institute and Huawei Technologies attended the Seminar.
Prof. Fu Zhiming, Deputy Dean of School of Foreign Languages, PKU, and Dr. Wu Bingbing, Chair Professor of QCMES-PKU and Deputy Director of Department of Arabic Language and Culture, SFL-PKU were also among the attendance.
The Seminar was focused on three thematic sessions namely: politics, economy and security in the Gulf, regeional cooperation between the Gulf and the Middle East, and Gulf in the Global Background. The participants held heated discussions on the current situation of the Gulf countries, the relation between the U.S. and Iraq, and the prospects for cooperation between China and the Gulf, and reached abroad consensus.
