On December 12th, 2021, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Elbadri, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to China visited Peking University. Prof. Hao Ping, President of Peking University, met with the Ambassador Elbadri and the delegation in Central Hall of Lake House. The two sides had in-depth exchange of views on enhancing cooperation between universities of both countries in fields as culture, education, archaeology, and history.

Also presented at the meeting were Ning Qi, Director of Organization Department, Dean of School of Foreign Languages, PKU, Fu Zhiming, Deputy Dean of SFL-PKU, Lin Fengmin，Deputy Director of Center for Excellent Teaching and Learning at PKU, Zhang Hai, Deputy Dean of School of Archaeology and Museology PKU, Wu Bingbing, Director of Department of Arabic Language and Cultures, SFL-PKU, Chair Professor of State of Qatar Chair in Middle Eastern Studies at PKU, Zheng Ruqing, Deputy Director of Office of International Relations, Omaima Zeidan, Cultural Counsellor of Egyptian Embassy in Beijing, and Amr Abduahmed, First Secretary from the Embassy.

After the meeting, Ambassador Elbadri went to the new building of School of Foreign Languages and together with Li Shujing, Secretary of CPC Committee of SFL-PKU and unveiled the Exhibition of Chinese translations of Nagib Mahfouz’s works. Ambassador Elbadri also attended the opening ceremony of Symposium on the 110th Anniversary of Najib Mahfouz’s Birth.

Afterwards, Ambassador Elbadri took a visit to the Department of Arabic Language and Cultures where Prof. Fu Zhiming introduced the history and academic achievements of the Department. Dr. Wu Bingbing and Dr. Lian Chaoqun, Deputy Director of the Department also attended the meeting.
